We "planted" a bit of this in our larger dam a few years ago, where it did nothing for a while but became very common in drought when the water level dropped and water no doubt warmed. Now it has got into another dam c. 2-300m away (via ducks?). It is growing on an old dry cow pat that must have blown into the dam and is holding its shape. Not seen anywhere else in the dam so far.

A pair of spiders mating in the corner of a room. When first observed the male spider was stroking the underside of the female as he moved into position and then began to transfer sperm. The act of copulation lasted for approx. 30 mins before the female moved away.

Field Notes - The wasp seemed larger than normal - almost 20mm. Was it a queen? Also very lethargic - temperature only about 12 degrees C

I'm not sure whether this was fighting or courtship behaviour. It went on for some time, they seemed to be enjoying them selves and neither of them lost their tail.

House lizard - this lizard has been roaming the house for some years, either in the roof, under furniture or outside. Sometimes there has been a pair in the house. Good at cleaning up dead flies.
