Entoloma sp. toadstools
Outing to Poad’s Farm
00.11.1961
Note: I have located this on Poads Road at the back of Levin assuming that this is named after Poad of Poad's farm
Very common throughout the area on dead beech logs. Color was variable from dark almost grey, shown in one photograph here. Through to the most common yellow shades. And when dried out or old went a whiter / lighter shade. And lost its translucency.
No strong odor.
I was thinking Entoloma, but these are on wood, so unlikely.
Looked like horse droppings. On closer inspection I thought they were surely decayed... Nope, perfectly fresh. Probably nothing interesting, but I thought it worth snapping a (bad) photo of
Family Marasmiaceae
Plenty little umbrellas 5-10mm growing of the 150cm diameter trunk of a giant Puriri tree. So whimsical, beautiful find after heavy rains this week. They smell like garlic?
