OSPREY - FISHING.
I was walking toward my car when I heard a hawk-like cry from the area of the river behind me, followed by the squawking of egrets and herons. Curious... I couldn't pass this up, so I walked back around the fence to the west end of the narrows. Nothing. But then I spotted our continuing Caspian Tern who took to the air to perform a series of aerobatic hunting circles over the small pool crowded with Great and Snowy Egrets. After a few half-hearted passes, the Tern landed in the water just upstream. But then a large shadow passed over me and I looked up to see an Osprey doing its own reconnaissance. I began shooting and was quickly rewarded by a dive and strike as the large bird splashed into the water, sending the Egrets scattering. The Osprey rose with a fish in its grasp and did that characteristic "shrug move", shaking off water as it rose toward the east. I tried to see where it would land to eat, but it passed out of view... and I headed back to my car.

Found sleeping in a pile of decaying oak logs, upon waking up, I noticed how it's eyes were cloudy and grey. It attempted to flee, but could not fly very well on account of it's lack of vision. I captured it and brought it to a Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in San Dimas.

Felt like they would never fledge. Caught them discussing the leap. I'm not going, you go!
