Go Away!
I was standing on the pier when I saw this grackle grab something out of the water. I got close to see what it was & got this look. The food item was a dragonfly nymph.

Apparently the grackle thought I was after its meal. The nymph started shedding out of its skin while being held by the bird.

Oooh I See Another One!
While holding the newly emerged dragonfly, the grackle spotted a 2nd one in the water.

Oh Look! A Third One
After grabbing the 2nd nymph, the grackle spotted a 3rd one in the water. All 3 were in the newly emerged stage now.

Well This Is Awkward
The greedy grackle seems to be trying to grab a third morsel without dropping the first two. This takes concentration & the bird was ignoring me now.

I Guess Two's Enough For Now
The third nymph was just too much to juggle so the bird gave up trying and walked off with his two snacks. A lot of fun to watch.
