The plums in the city gardens have just started to ripen up, and I'm seeing kererū more often in the neighbourhood. Coincidence? I don't think so.
First heard, then saw, it foraging among the dead leaves on the ground in my garden.
This bird was remarkably chill. I got within ten feet of it without disturbing it much. It did fly from one side of the driveway, but it didn't fly off. At that point, I backed off.
