Couldn't get down for better pic.!
Sighting and photos (c) lochlan1.
Field Notes - Found this on Recharge Bay beach on the 5th. of January. It has taken me this long to identify it on my mobile device. It was approximately 45 to 50 cm long with some rigamortis set in and relatively not flexible. No evidence of scarring or wounds on body and no fishing hook in mouth. death unknown.
I believe it is a common saw shark.
Pristiophorus Cirratus
Found washed up on the beach
A Stout Moray Eel (Gymnothorax eurostus) with a parasitic isopod (possibly Lironeca sp.) in its mouth
not sure if this is the right ID , perhaps they are Parupeneus ciliatus?
