Field Notes - Two agaric fungi fruiting bodies, found in Strickland State Forest, in moist rainforest area beside Stoney Creek. Spotted growing in humus-rich yet slightly sandy soil, amongst moist leaf litter, beside a eucalypt tree. Small, newly-emerged fruiting body with almost spherical cherry-red cap approx. 3cm across, with white stipe. Older fruiting body with centrally-depressed cap, cherry red fading to pale at the margin, approx. 8cm diameter with some splitting, white gills and pale pink stipe. Similar to R. persanguinea, but the coloured stem of large fruiting body i think suggests R. rosacea.
These guys were bioluminescent, unfortunately I couldn’t capture a good photo of the lights on my phone
