On cut stems from trumpet vine, Debbie Klein collection.
On Abies magnifica or Pinus contorta, at snowmelt. Older ones are darker in color. Has lots of cottony mycelium. Taste strongly of mushroom, very similar to Trametes versicolor.

Could this be Ganoderma curtisii? If so, it's fairly far north for it. It was growing terrestrially near black locust trees.

The flesh was like tough rubber and cutting a sample was challenging. I successful grew the sample on agar and grain spawn. Unfortunately, it didn't fruit using master mix substrate.
