Hiding out in the cafe roof with about three other individuals, coming out occasionally to get food from the bin and accept hot chips from passersby.
Saw something dead on the road when I drove past at about midnight. I originally thought it was a very large brushtail possum until I walked over to it. First time I've ever seen a hare and it is shockingly large. It was hit very recently before I found it as there was a lot of bright red blood around it and it was limp when I moved it off the road into the long grass.
The third image shows approximately where it was hit. One side of the road is surrounded by long grass and leads into the wetlands. Only a few hundred metres away on the other side of the road is also wetlands so many animals cross late at night. I've seen rabbits, foxes, and even a rakali all cross in roughly the same place.
love it’s white tipped tail
