A small patch in still water, drainage beside native bush and weedy wetland.
Three kaka feeding on the flowers of this planted species in the park.
Plant ID: Ewen Cameron, Botany Curator, Auckland Museum.
Three resident kaka remain at the same location in the park. The noisy, whistling birds were feeding on the flowers of a row of mature Paulownia elongata before flying a short distance to feed on mature eucalyptus and puriri. Short video in the video link field.
