This tiny painted turtle was found along the edge of the dirt road leading into Macrae Farm Park working its way towards the winooski river. It was found around 2:30, and the temperature was in the low 60s with clear skies. There was another Painted Turtle nearby that was hit by a car.
Early morning sighting - snake caught out after an evening of hunting? Found near a pile of old bricks and I wonder if the snake brumated there.

Found all individuals crossing the street between 8:28 pm and 10:25 pm.
Very little rain throughout that time, but a lot of rain earlier in the day kept the ground wet.
Moving west across the road from the upland forest to the vernal pool below.

The most numerous species of the night! Pretty sure these are all four-toed, with a reddish back with lots of small flecks. Managed to get a look at the underside of a few and noted a pale belly with some black speckles, particularly near the sides. The constricted base of the tail is quite noticeable on some individuals!
Counted up a total of 22 different individuals over about an hour and a half!
