Still nest #5, main photo chosen for maximum eaglet visible. Wooly dark grey down and the start of pin-feathers on the wing puts them at around 4 weeks old according to this website: https://cbop.audubon.org/conservation/eaglet-biology
Was watching the other parent leave (separate observation already posted https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/207206426 ) so missed this one arrive - ripping up SOMETHING to feed the babies, but couldn’t figure out what. Flew away after a while and the babies were looking around unattended. Only ever saw 2 at a time, which is what others have also seen according to Facebook posts my dad and aunt have seen that follow this nest.
Nest #5 on the tour with my aunt— she saved the best for last because babies are frequently visible here. Last pic shows how far back set from the road - practically in this person’s yard (someone who has, according to my aunt, become used to people frequently stopping to look at/photograph the nest, which is being monitored on Facebook according to my dad. They even have a log carving of an eagle nest out front, which was present BEFORE real eagles!)
This was the first adult, hanging out near but not on the nest, then made a rookie mistake trying to follow this one (visible as a very distant dot in the middle of the sky in the second to last photo) instead of watching the nest, so missed the arrival of the second parent.
Adult #2 and the babies posted as a separate observation. https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/207208646
First seen eating dead raccoon on road and then flew up to tree.
