I find them on and around my deck, courtesy of neighborhood Tyto alba.
Another butterfly. A copper one. I believe it to be a bronze copper despite the bright wings suggesting it’s an American copper, because the underside of the wings don’t look like they match.
Edit: Hobiecat gave a good argument to the butterfly’s identification. Now I’m confident it’s a small copper.
Status: Alive
I spotted this mole making its way across the lawn and in the flower beds... It caught a black beetle and was eating the beetle while I took the photos...
Dead dolphin
Saw this small (1 foot x 1 foot), roundish, blue green bush in the Alpine Garden in Breckenridge Colorado. Very soft. On the somewhat more sprawling (thiugh not taller) versions had longer shoots.
Sighting and photos (c) paul_fiona_rose_grace_rob.
Field Notes - Approximately 20cm diameter. Fleshy fungi with pale brown cap, brown gills and growing in leaf litter.
Can anyone tell me what this is? A teacher inherited a collection of shells--no locations, no dates, no names. Google image gives back lace curtains, so no help there. I will delete it if there isn't a better location, etc. Just hoping to help get a name on it for her to use at school.
