~23 mm body, +12 mm wing beyond body= 35 mm total length. Dark form with rust-colored eyes, and bone-colored pronotal collar. Pubescence at base of abdomen silvery. Had an altercation with a cat and a wing seemed broken, so was placed on an Ash tree trunk where these insects are commonly found this time of year.

~23 mm body, +12 mm wing beyond body= 35 mm total length. Eyes dark red or rust color. Pronotal collar entirely bone-colored, or yellowish. Ovipositor is visible on ventral side. 'Dark form.' Male cicadas sing and leave transparent exoskeletons on a Shamel Ash tree; Fraxinus uhdei in the immediate area. This female was found dead on the ground near the tree.

Could this cicada be a Scissor-grinder Cicada (Neotibicen pruinosus)? I'm not sure. It showed up at my front door late at night on 2023-10-01, apparently attracted to front door light. I put the insect in a container for safe keeping until morning so I could take a few photos before releasing it.
