Including legs might have been one inch long. This spider piqued my curiosity. It was walking on the ground, where I was pulling weeds, on a sunny edge, more densely bushy on one side, and wooded across the trail I was on the edge of. It was very cooperative in stopping for its photo session when I put my hand in front of it.
All the birders are excited a juvenile Red-footed Booby arrived in Port Townsend. Today it was resting, preening, and once flapping its wings on the PTMSC aquarium rooftop in Ft. Worden. It was first spotted three days ago on the mast of research vessel Rachel Carson while anchored off Protection Island, and since has been seen plunging into the sea for fish beside gulls, and resting. This one has pink feet, as they don't turn red until adulthood.
