Identificaciones de mmasell

After misidentifying Tipularia discolor yesterday (confused it with Apelectrum hymenale), I went back to the same preserve today for additional verification and came across this specimen with purple upper leaf. Is this a known variation? Could this be a sport? Or am I barking up the wrong tree again?

This one fits the description of Putty root - green/white striations on both front and back of leaf. Thanks to all you corrected my observation of the OTHER plant that I misidentified. I'm going back this afternoon to check it out - it's in the same preserve, but in a different location.
