Isn’t a bit to early for Agaricus sp. to popping out!?
Growing out of horse manure. Mild fungal odor, strong fungal flavor.
Odor indistinct. No yellow staining.
Looks like P. ostreatus, but there was a slightly furry growth on the cap of one. Could be mycelium. Smell was disagreeable rather than typical oyster mushroom odor (kind of a burnt smell). There was burnt wood nearby so that may have contributed. Have specimen.
Found in the same spot and likely the same species as the Pleurotus I observed in Malheur county a few years ago.
In riparian area under Populus trichocarpa, Salix.
Under populus.
Cap up to 6 cms.
Spores with rounded ends, elliptical, smooth (8.0-13.0) x (5.6-7.0)
In an open somewhat wet area with tall grass in a mixed conifer forest. Primarily Douglas fir. Many found in the area, from 1.5 to 5 inches across cap. Most specimens had open chambers within the stipe when cut. Latex was light orange, staining green. Taste mild on most, but very slightly bitter on others.
Mild smell of almond. Slow yellow to light red staining with handling. In mixed conifer area at edge of forest in some grass.
