This bird was observed attempting to forage from the San Diego Botanical Garden Lily Pond until it was scared off by people. It then moved closer to strollers on the sidewalk and blankets on the grass, appearing to attempt to scavenge food from humans.
This bird was observed during a pelagic birding trip with the San Diego Audubon Society during the San Diego Bird Festival. It was seen flying down and attempting to remove ectoparasites from a Common Mola (Mola mola) that was lying horizontally at the surface.
