This population was established on about two plants (a southern rata, and a rock rose) from one individuasl brought back from Wellington in the early 1990s. Surrounded by pasture, dispersal seems unlikely. The recent detection of the species further along Milton St raises the possibility they have dispersed, although inermis are spreading through other Southland townships too so may also be an independent incursion.
Not really sure on species. Was on a bag, so could have come from Franz Josef where the bag was stored
these are wild cave weta that have moved into the trout viewing "cave" at PVS, they dissapear during the day though! There is a colony of about 50 including the tiniest babies of this speices that ive ever seen (about 5mm)
