This is Goldenrod (Solidago) . Grouping of yellow Flowers on a long hardy stem. The leaves of golden rod are smooth with serrations about one inch in between each serration. Weather is 74 , and mostly sunny
This is wild Chicory. The leaves are configured in a basal formation up near top of flower and are oblong and smooth whereas the bottom of the flower they are oblong and lobed like a dandelion leaf. All parts of the flower are edible and can grow in poor soil conditions. The flower is light blue and arrange in a panicle formation. These were found along a roadside on a partly sunny day , 78 degrees.
This is a Silver Maple (Acer Saccharinum) The leaves are palmately lobed and have 5 deep lobes (deep sinuses) . There are jags or teeth in between each lobe while the rest of it is smooth edge. The leaf itself is smooth. The bark when peeled back is silver or grayish.
This is a Red Maple (Acer Rubrum). The leaves are single and have 3 to five lobes. The leaves are also arranged oppositely on twigs. Many of the stems have turned complexity red . The bark has light to medium fissures .
This is a Sweet Crabapple tree ( Malus Coronaria) the leaves are smooth and are serrated around the whole leaf probably about 2 inches in length total. The bark of the tree has a light fissure / cracked look to it. This tree also produces fruits that turn red when ripe.
This is Crown tipped coral mushroom. This group was 3 inches tall. This mushroom has no gills, and as you move up each individual stalk the tops branch out to look like a crown, about 3 to 5 tips on each crown. This is a edible mushroom with a handful of other ones you can misidentify it with, the best way to identifying crown tipped coral mushroom is it must actually grow on dead wood as it will not grow on the ground. The taste of this mushroom is a mild peppery taste. Often yellow or white in color, when brown or black it is bad.
Here is a Smooth Chanterelle (Cantharellus lateritius) this is an edible mushroom. The color is a gold/yellow/orange, it does not have true gills but has small ridges or veins . They do not grow on dead material . They also smell of fruit or more commonly apricot . The cap size is 1 inch while the stalk is around 2 inches in length and 1 inch in width.
