I saw a coyote run across the main walking path of Picnic Point about 1/4 mile from the entrance. It ran across the path and continued south about 20-30 feet into the brush and surrounding trees. It appeared to have an injured left front foot or leg. It did bear weight on it but not every step. The leg appeared to have a normal shape and coat distribution. Once it was 20 feet into the brush it stopped and turned around towards us, and then it sat down and watched us.
It was about 50 yards away from me and my three dogs. They were barking like crazy. The coyote appeared unperturbed by that. The best word I can think of to describe it's demeanor is "casual".
It did not attempt to follow us or get closer to us.
Unidentifiable in the picture, but at least it recorded the date/time/location. This fox was walking around the courtyard without apparent concern. I was mesmerized so as an afterthought took a photo. I caught a fleeting glimpse of the tail in the distance.
Fox casually crossed the street from Bascom hill toward Muir knoll and into Muir Woods. Had light colored ear tag on left(?) ear.
Saw a solitary coyote walking around the shoreline of a local pond. It seemed to just be checking out the area, and ultimately seemed to be scared off by a gathering of the area geese and ducks who swam and flew in to make a lot of noise. Watched for 10 minutes before it walked off. I did not notice it on my way back using a trail close to where it was sighted.
We have had a fox family in the neighborhood this spring. We saw them often. Now they seem to have moved on. One small one remains. It is always alone and looks like it has started getting mange. I am afraid it has been rejected by the rest. Is that possible and can you help it? This photo was taken several weeks ago.
Not sure if it is a coyote or a large fox. We hear coyotes on the golf course and have seen foxes on the golf course as well. This is one of several sightings as he/she has come back several mornings in a row. Today, he/she seemed particularly interested in our UW flamingos...
My dog just came in from peeing in a fenced in portion of our back yard when crows started making a racket. I looked out and saw healthy-looking red (I think) fox walk through the slats in the fence into the pen. The fox froze when I went out onto the screened porch to look. I went back inside and, after standing on alert looking for me for a few minutes, the fox slowly walked toward and under our screened porch. I wonder if it is making or has made a den under our screened porch.
There is a coyote which seems to have a habitual route. He comes up through the green space in back of our house, which is more or less adjacent to Owen Park (Jetty Drive). He travels across our large back yard, up the side hill, into the cul-de-sac and then between houses out of my view. Most of the year, we have 30-40 turkeys in the yard (just a few now that they've nested) and a mulberry tree which seems to be a wildlife magnet.
A Fox running through a parking lot toward a cluster of shrubs and trees
Red fox running through our back yard...seemingly with purpose at 7:05am.
We have pretty consistent fox activity in and around our backyard. Your team member Marcus was just recently here retrieving a deceased fox that was under my next door neighbors deck. Since then the daytime fox activity had been pretty quiet until the past several weeks we've seen an uncollared red fox periodically. Yesterday morning I observed the fox running from the front of our house to the backyard with something in it's mouth. A few minutes later it came back again to a tree next to our house and plucked something out from a hole. After this second encounter I went outside and checked the tree and found the nest of a mallard hen that's been in and around our yard for the past few weeks. There was nothing left in the nest except feathers. Unfortunately the fox was moving to quickly for me to get a good picture with my phone.
fox rested for some time in this spot, which is near a yard used by some neighbor dogs
3 coyotes - 1 leader and 2 "stragglers". Initial thought is a mother and her offspring, although all 3 were close to the same size. Leader saw the dog and myself and started trotting the other way, and the others followed. I shouted and they started trotting a bit faster. Again headed Northeast.
Fox was on the deck looking at my 2 cats (cats were on the inside of the house at patio door).
Fox walked off deck and through back yard to "green space".
fox walked across lake side/back yard toward Lake Dr in Middleton.
It has been here regularly, sometimes on the parking lot side. Most commonly on lake side.
Today at 8:45. One collar and tagged fox (yello). On larger doc no collar no tag.
Usually we see a fox with a red/orange tag. So these guys were different. We were inside our home. After some time I think they recognized our presence and heard our dog who figured out they were outside.
On fox can to about 10 feet of the house.
7:30AM in Lakeshore Nature Preserve
Cyotes several see and hear them all the time
The fox was very close to our house in our backyard, eating a few old kumquats I had thrown out for the birds. We have seen it before; it may have a den near a neighbor's house, as she has seen the little ones in the past.
We were watching the fox through the window--I am not sure it noticed us at all.
