This and several others were verified in-hand. Some California Dancers (A. agrioides) were also present.
Had a really nice time with fellow urban biologists during the staff meeting in San Antonio. We stopped by UTSA to learn a bit more about their bioswales, water catchment studies, and even a karst area!
I found this one on a walkway. I got some photos and tried to move it to some bushes with a stick. It seemed very weak and uncoordinated, and I believe it may have been dying. It began flapping erratically shortly after I found it, yet it never flew. I'm sure it's a swallowtail, but not sure whether it's Eastern or Western.
Found a patch of beautiful colored flowers and saw a bunch of butterflies. This was the only one that posed for me to take the picture.
I keep finding so many animals right in front of the Sculpture/Ceramics Bldg at UTSA.
