Luuk Punt kreeg stress van twitchen en raakte begeesterd door nachtvlinders, die hij nu stelselmatig monitort en zo een digitale collectie aanlegt. Natuurmusea liggen vol verborgen schatten, zoals de Van Groenendael collectie, te wachten om ontsloten te worden. Honderdduizenden Indonesische vlinders, opgevouwen in stukjes krantenpapier, worden in Naturalis bijna 90 later later één voor één uitgepakt om wetenschappelijk te worden vereeuwigd.

Zonder hulp van meerkoetkijkende burgers had bioloog Auke-Florian Hiemstra zijn onderzoek naar het
gebruik van plastic in meerkoetnesten niet kunnen doen. Maar sommige waarnemers maken het wel heel bont. Zo voerde Bert Geelmuijen meer dan 12.000 meerkoeten in op waarneming.nl. Waarom doet hij dat in hemelsnaam?

Ze zijn klein, maar doen grootse dingen voor de natuur.
Een kwart van alle biodiversiteit op aarde leeft in de grond. Een wondere wereld vol wormen, slakken en schimmeldraden, die laborant Simone Brandt vast wil leggen in hun eigen leefgebied: de bodem. Dat bleek de aanzet tot een bioscoopfilm.

15-minute Counts - Cristina Sevilleja in the Slovenia Workshop
In 6th of April 2022, BCE together with Slovenia BMS did a workshop for Slovenian volunteers to encourage and continue monitoring butterflies.

Cristina Sevilleja gave a talk about the 15-min Count as a new methodology to monitor butterflies everywhere in Europe. In this talk, she explained how to do 15-min counts, which app to use for doing it and the possibilities of this methodology for registering butterflies whenever is possible.

LIFE4BEST M37 Madeira - Madeira Threatened Endemic Butterflies
Video summarising the project LIFE4BEST M37 Madeira (MTEB). Butterfly Conservation Europe has been working in partnership with Madeira Flora & Fauna to conserve three endangered butterfly species endemic in the Madeira island. Thanks to the EU’s LIFE4BEST funding programme for its Overseas Regions, funded this project from 2021 to 2022. Key outputs of the project are the production of Action Plans for each butterfly which will hopefully guide future conservation action on Madeira and the development of the Madeira Butterfly Monitoring Scheme to know more the conservation status of these threatened species.

Butterfly Indicators- Chris van Swaay in the Slovenia Workshop

In 6th of April 2022, BCE together with Slovenia BMS did a workshop for Slovenian volunteers to encourage and continue monitoring butterflies.

Chris van Swaay gave a talk about butterfly indicators produced by eBMS (European Butterfly Monitoring Scheme) and BCE. In this talk, he explained how the data collected in the thousand of different transects in Europe is processed for calculating the butterfly indicators of Europe and from them the selected species for different type of Indicators, like the Butterfly Grassland Indicator.

OOGTV Groeten uit Groeningen afl 6: Drentsche Aa
In deze zesde aflevering van Groeten uit Groeningen zitten we in het Nationaal Park Drentsche Aa. We bezoeken één van de ambassadeursprojecten van Groeningen, het Voedselbos in Glimmen waar ze niet alledaagse planten kweken/laten groeien. Ook zien we hoe het voormalig grasland van Land van Ons in drie jaar tijd is veranderd in een akkerland met veel diversiteit aan gewassen. En we krijgen een uitgebreide rondleiding op het Waterbedrijf Groningen in de Punt. Want ons drinkwater, dat komt uit de Drentsche Aa.
