Camp Common Ground Trip

We went to camp common ground again to check the trap for the cotton tailed rabbit. While we were walking, we saw a huge frog and two large water snakes. There was no sign of bunny tracks but we did see that the food was gone and that there was some sort of track we think was a mouse track. Then we went up to Mr. Frank's truck and cleaned that trap out. We put in new contact paper and chalk powder. The food we put in was cabbage and peanut butter. When that was done we walked back to the woods to put the trap down. We decided we should put it a tiny bit farther in the woods so we put it behind the place where it was originally. Then we covered it back up with brush to camouflage it. We were thinking we should put a trail camera on the trap so we could see what comes in. We hope we get a rabbit next time! Fingers crossed!

Camp Common Ground Trip

We went to Camp Common Ground to clean and move the cotton tailed rabbit trap. We saw that all the food was gone and mouse scat and tracks were in the trap. Our group was considering moving the trap so maybe a rabbit would come by. So we moved it about ten feet away from where it was originally placed. We cleaned it and put new contact paper and ink in the trap. We put apple slices for food. Then we set it in the place where we wanted it and camouflaged the trap. We put brush and ferns on it. On Thursday we will come back and check the trap again.

Eastern Cotton Tail Rabbit

We were considering putting the trap in the same general place but more undercover. Also we could camouflage it more so it looks like a home. Some food like twigs and plants are good to put in the trap.
