morning

We moved the trap to far end of the pond, deep into the woods. We moved it because I noticed all we were getting was mouse poop, and moldy cat food, and maybe near water wasn't the best place for the bobcat trap. We camouflaged it more this time, and put the trap in a pile of sticks. I fell, but I'm fine. The weather was not so great- cloudy, humid, muggy. Not a great day for going out into the woods looking for animal tracks. My group didn't think so either- nobody was in a very good mood. Also, there wasn't much sign, and we didn't get much on the trail cams. Anyways, hopefully we'll get tracks soon.

On the morning of March 24th, we set up the traps. My group, had to set up a trap for a bobcat, so we use cat food as bait, and put the trap near the marsh. The cat food was super-duper gross, and Greta had to touch it with her hands, because getting it out with a stick wasn't working. Beyond the gross cat food incident, the trip was ok. We got to go into the woods to set up the trap, and the weather was not to bad. We saw Eastern cottontail tracks near the pond, which was pretty cool.

5/12/17

This morning, we finally found tracks. We are pretty that they are grey fox tracks, but not completely sure. The weather was fair today, and there was a cool breeze, we saw lots of tracks by the creek, and it was a pretty fun day. I got the ipod, so I took lots of photos. (mostly of frogs, lizards, crayfish, etc.-there were a lot of those again today I noticed)The snake showed up again, but didn't approach us like he did before. Overall, like I said, it was a fun day, and we got lots of work done. :)

Tuesday morning

Sadly, still no tracks. We cleaned up our trap, and tried sardines as bait, instead cat food, but I don't think that will make a difference. We should switch out the chalk for an other substance, and find some more sticky paper maybe. Though personally, I don't think the trap thing is working for us. Moving on, the weather was nasty- rainy, hot, sticky, buggy, and I forgot to wear good shoes. We did see a water snake, two salamanders, and three really big bullfrogs, which we took pictures of. The morning was not a total bust, but not a lot of improvement as far as the track sighting goes, and again, not a whole lot on the trail cams. In general, our group thought that the traps weren't working out, and not a lot was going on. I also noticed that there were a lot of critters in the pond today
