Hello fellow naturalists!
I studied environmental management and protection at university in California, but was always studying and identifying plants and animals since I was old enough to notice them. My degree is fairly broad and focused on public administration and ecosystem management, so you may notice that my interests and sightings are broad, and not too specialized as well.
I currently work in the oil and gas industry to ensure that there is sufficient funding to plug and retire oil and gas wells and facilities as they lose profitability and/or are phased out for cleaner forms of energy. No direct work with plant and animal species, but working to provide a world that they can continue to thrive in for future generations.

My current expertise is on birds, followed by fish and woody plants. I studied central California dendrology, and have been birding in California for almost 10 years.
I was born and raised in the Philippines and spent many weekends and vacations snorkeling and scuba diving. I have finished a project of cataloguing and uploading species observations from the several thousand photos I took in the Philippines as a teen. Naturally, I focused on mostly colorful fish at the time, but have managed to crop out many smaller, plainer fish and many corals and invertebrates from the background of these photos and ID'ed many of them with much help from this generous community. With this project completed, my undersea sightings will be few and far between, but snorkeling and scuba diving are by far my favorite naturalist activities.
In the future, I will continue to fill out my life-list with birds, but also hope to gain proficiency in flowering plants, butterflies, fungi, and insects as time allows.
