Professor of biodiversity, ecology, agroecology, organismal biology, and natural resources management, Departamento de Ambiente y Desarrollo, Zamorano University, Honduras.
I have been based at Zamorano University since 2011. I lived in El Salvador for 18 years before that, studying the local birds while studying a bachelor's in zoology at Ohio Wesleyan University, and then my Ph.D. in ecology at the University of Kansas. From 2003 to 2010, I worked for SalvaNATURA (El Salvador Ecological Foundation). I grew up in Massachusetts, and was an avid birder since the age of 7. I review eBird records for Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua, and have written numerous publications about birds and biodiversity, including co-authoring the Peterson Field Guide to Birds of Northern Central America in 2016.
