After growing up in Kodiak Alaska, and commercially fishing for salmon in the summer time with his family, Ryan went on to get a Master's Degree in Marine Biology at Moss Landing Marine Labs. He worked at MLML as a research technician - primarily studying pacific coast Rockfish species - until 2020 when he started a new position with Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
