I am formally educated in forestry, ecology, plant physiology and genetics, but in my professional life I am an IT manager. An amateur photographer and avid diver, I enjoy taking my camera to exotic locals and nearby parks alike, always on the lookout for something to photograph and identify. I grew up spending most of my time outdoors hiking, camping, or just staying out of mom's way (there were six of us), and have had an affinity for nature for as long as I can remember. While in college, I spent considerable time rehabilitating injured and sick wildlife through a local center and volunteered at parks and schools teaching others about our natural world.
(That's a picture of me many years ago with a permanent park resident red-tailed hawk.) I discovered this community while looking for online assistance with identifying a few species of fish I encountered in St. Lucia this summer, and am now trying to make a contribution in return by posting observations and assisting others while still utilizing this great site and its members' knowledge.
