I like to photograph and learn about nature in the deep south Texas borderlands and wherever I travel.

Having been a climate activist in the Houston Sierra Club, I remain most concerned about climate change and the Sixth Extinction. E.O. Wilson's Half Earth proposal inspires me. I hope that using iNaturalist will teach me more about ecosystems change and species adaptation.

The spread of citizen science is a hopeful and interesting development.

I would like to see iNaturalist teach informal users more about the scientific uses of its data and how the sampling problems they present are handled.

As a university professor in Cognitive Science, my teaching assignments included Environmental Psychology, I believe children (and all people) benefit from free, unsupervised play in nature.
