We arrived at the Arcata marsh it is a nice day with the temp being 51 degrees and mostly sunny. I took a few pictures of some sunburst lichens that I saw on a rock and a purple thistle. After that we went to our tree to see how it has been developing. We could start to see the leaf buds to being to break letting out a small patch of green. We recorded the data of development for the tree and took the four pictures of the canopy, full tree, developed branch, and the undeveloped branch. Once we were done with that we got back into the car and drove over to where the Avocets like to hang out.

On the walk over to the Avocet site at Jacoby Creek we could see two flocks of birds. As we got closer we could see that they were avocets. We then sat there for 15 minutes watching them and counting how many there were, roughly 60. We then recorded if they were roosting, the color of their feathers, and a few other factors. At this time it is low tide and not windy. Once we were done collecting the data we walked back and took a few more pictures for INaturalist. This concluded our day at the marsh we were there for about an hour.
