Today's observation is a small tree called the New Mexico Locust (Robinia neomexicana). You may be able to tell by this plant's flowers that it is part of the pea family, Fabaceae. This plant is native to the southwestern United States, and can often be found in areas disturbed by fire. Have you seen the New Mexico Locust flowering in Coconino County?
