Hi everyone.
It’s been about 1 1/2 months since the last post, We now have 3,718 observations covering 1,022 species. Good going!!!
Making correct identifications can sometimes be confusing, so here’s a hint for you. Recently, there have been more observations of caterpillars…not always easy. This can be very confusing for many, but there is a way to make it just a bit easier.
-If you think you have a good ID and want to check photos to verify, click "View More–>” just below the main photo of that species. This will take you to all the iNaturalist photos, of that species.
-Next, just above the photos on that next page, you will see “Life Stage: Any”. Click on “Larva” and you will see now photos of only the caterpillars. That should make things much easier by removing the adult photos which could be distracting.
If you want to be doubly certain, you can always check your observations on the very extensive and capable Bugguide.net. Great resource!
Happy hunting,
Rich
