Hi everyone!
We're happy to announce an online meeting next week! This is a follow-up to the pilot event a month or so ago that was announced on the forum.
Here are the details:
The Zoom meeting will open at approximately 4 P.M. EST on Sunday the 17th.
The plan is to focus on the Oblique Streaktail, Allograpta obliqua. We'll start by taking a quick look at our key to Allograpta in the Nearctic region. You'll each be provided with a unique set of observations of A. obliqua to practice on, and we can address questions that come up as a group.
Join the Zoom Meeting here:

Meeting ID: 774 8757 4149
Passcode: diptera
Feel free to let us know if you're planning on attending in the comments! Questions about the event are also welcome.

I will be able to attend it. I guess the time will be EST but you should precise it. Thank you for organizing another Zoom meeting.
Awesome! Thanks for correcting that, I fixed it.
@vkord @blazeclaw @ifreedman @zoefoster may also be interested and would be most welcome
I'll try to make it, but no guarantees at this point.
👍
Sounds fun, I'll be there!
If this time doesn't work, then feel free to PM alternate time suggestions for next time.
I'm quite interested, but only if the weather is bad. If it's a nice day, I'll be out in the field.
I'm in. :-)
Great!
I am hoping to attend. Thanks for putting this together!
I'll open the Zoom Meeting in 30 minutes, excited to see you all!
In general you can also find the Allograpta key at the link https://sites.google.com/view/flyguide/syrphidae/syrphini
Meeting starting now!
Thank you to everyone who came for making it such a success! 'Needs ID' Allograpta obliqua are down to almost 0 and I think we all learned a lot.
Thank you for the fun and enlightening session!
I feel better about ID'ing Allograpta than I do about navigating through a ZOOM meeting, but thanks for your patience and your helpfulness, and especially for the guides which answer so many questions! I look forward to using your guides a lot in the future.
Just for those who might not have seen the new post, the next meeting (focused on the Common Lovebug) will be hosted on the 24th. More info here: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/flies-of-the-us-and-canada/journal/58631
