Having regular discussions and listening to advice from our 'expert identifiers' it has been mentioned several times how difficult it can be to positively identify a species from just a photograph? Sometimes the quality of the photograph is poor or the photograph does not show the important distinguishing features. Because of these two points we have 900+ observations in the 'Need's ID' project that are unidentified?
If it is at all possible please try to take photo's from different angles - especially if you are not sure of the species? Sometimes it also helps to use the flash device especially using your phone for moths - experiment a little bit :) It will help our expert's massively and it will also boost your observation and species counts!
I know we are hobbyists contributing to the projects but I am sure that everyone wants to strive for better quality species identification.
Thank You and Good Luck
