Identification Species Accounts: White-shouldered Starling (𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴)

After going through all the observations of White-shouldered Starling (𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘢 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴) I will make note of most of the commonly seen identification errors.

Interestingly, there were quite a few observations where Red-billed Starling (𝘚𝘱𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘰𝘱𝘴𝘢𝘳 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘶𝘴) was mistaken for it. In one case the photo was not too clear but still it had enough merits for someone such as myself with zero first-hand experience with 𝘚. 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘶𝘴 to identify it.

Chestnut-tailed Starling (𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘢) is the obvious candidate for misidentification but there weren't many, I can only recall in Taiwan. I think people would be less familiar with this species as it's regarded as an exotic/feral population in Taiwan -- so people may default to their native 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘢 species.
