2017 April 28--UCC River Trail Wanderings

1150-1410. After meeting a student and putting out trail cams for detecting mammals, I decided to enjoy the nice weather and wander around along the river trail. There were plenty of flowers out and several that were new to me. The Stinging Nettle in this area is huge. The petals of the Fringe Cups are delicate and exquisitely shaped. Growing many places on the Umpqua Community College (UCC) property is the Umpqua Valley endemic Camassia leichtlinii, ssp. leichtlinii. I also discovered a rapidly expanding "new invasive," the Shining Crane's-bill.
