CNC Final Results!

Hello everyone,

The final results are in and not only did San Diego do amazing but the City Nature Challenge overall was a major success! We were able to stay in the top 10 against 159 cities/counties around the world and PLACED THIRD FOR OBSERVATIONS!!! Last year only 68 cities/counties participated so I think top ten out of 159 is definitely worth celebrating!

While this challenge was a fun and healthy competition amongst cities around the globe, the real winner here was science and getting 35,126 people into nature. I am overjoyed with how well we placed and excited to keep promoting Citizen Science with Snapshot CalCoast coming up in a few weeks.

NOW ONTO THE RESULTS!!!

Below are some of the results overall from CNC. One exciting result is the 1,100+ rare/endangered species added onto iNatrualist.

Total observations made in the CNC world wide: 963,773
Total number of species added world wide: 31,000+
Total number of participants worldwide: 35,126

Here is the final results of the top three categories and a huge congrats to us for placing in 3rd place for observations!! We finished in 7th for species and 6th for number of people.

Another great win for San Diego was that we placed in first place in all three categories against those with similar arid climates!!
