Endemic species inhabiting in the sandy beach shallow and splash zone of lake Baikal
Quite small Fur Seal. The light color has me trying to convince myself it's a Guadalupe, but the shape of the snout makes me think it's a Northern. I'm kind of hoping I'm wrong, though. @suepemberton, any chance I'm wrong? :)
Saw this about 300-400m off Titahi Bay beach.
The dorsal fin looks a bit like a late model BMW and Toyota car radio aerial. The fin seems too small for the creature to be an Orca.
About 15 min prior to these pictures I saw the creature fluking - it had a large broad tail fin.
It could be a humpback whale or a species of dolphin
I think these photos were of the one creature but could not guarantee this.
Animal beached less than 24 hours before discovery. Later necropsy by Cascadia Research and the Makah revealed species ID and the fact that it was pregnant.
