One of many on the hoptrees (Ptelea trifoliata) I have growing in our landscape
Gerardia sp.
Except for its long calyx teeth,
similar to description of G. tenuifolia.
A short plant, with long flower stalks, and with asymmetric flowers (two of five petals not fully expanded).
Found on lake shore habitat.
believed to be commonly called round-lobed hepatica, (Hepatica nobilis var. obtusa)
a single beautiful little blueish purple flower coming out of liver-shaped round three leaves
No leaves that I could find--stems all the way to the ground.
Bad photo. I'm assuming a downy, as the beak looks shortish.
Large patches of this plant growing in full sun in sandy soil along road.
