New look to the Mockingbird Nature Park Project

I've updated the Mockingbird Nature Park Project from a traditional project (where you the observer or someone else has to manually enter your observations) to the new collection project format (where all your observations from the park are automatically added).

Because of the change you can no longer manually add an observation to the project and the little project icon will no longer appear on your observations. But the project will show up in your project list (drop-down menu under your profile picture).

Check out the new look, it has a lot more information readily available than the old format. https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/mockingbird-nature-park

MOTH NIGHT AT MOCKINGBIRD NATURE PARK

We're excited to announce our first MOTH NIGHT at Mockingbird Nature Park which will be on Wednesday, July 27 8:30pm to 11:00pm

Join the Indian Trail Master Naturalists and TPWD biologist as we document moths and nocturnal insects at Mockingbird Nature Park in Midlothian. This is a registered event during National Moth Week. http://nationalmothweek.org/events-map-2/ We will have moth lights set up and hope for a good turn out (both visitors and moths!)

It will be hot, so come prepared. Bring drinking water, and since it will be dark, a flashlight is recommended and wear close-toed shoes. Insect repellent is recommended to fend off those pesky mosquitoes! We will be staying on the trails for this nighttime event. Bring a camera if you would like to take photos of the moths and other night time insects we'll see.

This event is FREE and open to the public. We meet at the parking lot. Please join us! Mockingbird Nature Park is located just north of Mockingbird Lane, at 1361 Onward Rd, Midlothian, TX 76065

Two events at Mockingbird Nature Park in July!

We've got two events at Mockingbird Nature Park coming up in July and hope that you'll join us for both!

First, our July Wildflower Walk on Saturday, July 16, at 9am. Indian Trail member Don Happ will lead the walk. Join us on this 1/2 mile stroll along the trail as he identifies and talks about the wildflowers you see. It will be hot, so come prepared. Bring drinking water and insect repellent is always a good idea, as is a hat and sunscreen. We have flyers available with species lists of plants found in the park, birds and animals and also one on insects. These walks are always fun and informative so I hope you'll join us!
