2023 Bioblitz planning
We have lots of really amazing Texas (and Oklahoma) locations in the planning stages for 2023 and on into 2024.
This Google map documents location of past, planned, and potential bioblitz gatherings:
Date(s) to avoid:
- Apr 28-May 1: City Nature Challenge
- Oct 12-15: Master Naturalist conference in McAllen
2023 event locations in the planning stages (that I'm aware of):
- May 19-21: Powderhorn WMA
- May 27-28: Robert Walker Ranch, near Glen Rose (hosted by Rio Brazos Master Naturalists)
- May 27: Old Camp Leroy Shuman in Lake Worth
- TBD: Roger Fawcett WMA - TPWD is planning an event for spring (west of Fort Worth, between I-20 and Palo Pinto Creek Reservoir), but date is still TBD.
- September 15-17: Independence Creek and Diamond Y (Nature Conservancy properties)
Other potential 2023/2024 event locations up for consideration:
- Hickory Creek WMA/State Game Management Area (Oklahoma): Map/info here (sometime between May 17 and Sept 29 to avoid hunting season). Controlled burn carried out this winter, so spring 2023 would be an ideal time.
- 3 Rivers Foundation up on the Rolling Plains. 3RF webpage. The Corps of Engineers Truscott Brine Lake is nearby.
- Old Sabine Bottom WMA in East Texas
